Eastern Creek Sprintcar

On the weekend we headed South down to the new Eastern Creek Speedway. This place is and will be the best in Australia in no time at all – what a place and what a race track!

There were 48 cars entered which meant we were all put into groups to qualify against and heat race against. I qualified 3^rd in my group and with an invert of 4 I started the heat from 2^nd place. I had a great start and was running 2^nd for about 3 laps then I managed to get past the other car on the bottom and held my lead, winning my heat.

This meant I was 2^nd overall on points for the night so I made the dash. I went out to draw a number and was second to pick a number and drew 7^th, so I went from 2^nd to starting 7^th in the dash. I was too low at the start of the dash as there was some track prep done before we went out and it was really wet so I came 8^th in the dash.

I started the feature from 8^th. After about 10 laps I had made my way up to 5^th place and then we had a restart and I lost a few spots and dropped back to 8^th again. With 7 laps to go I found a really good line on the bottom and managed to fight my way up to 4^th place. On the last lap I got into 3^rd and had to move down straight away to cover my line and keep my position.

I was over the moon with my 3^rd place finish at Eastern Creek. This is only the second time I have raced there since it’s opening, so to come away with a 3^rd place against 48 cars was a great achievement for me!

Now I need to carry this momentum onto this weekend at Toowoomba for Pink Night. So come on out and support Breast Cancer and watch some great racing.
