The 2022 Kubota Presidents Cup was held on Wednesday 19th January at Avalon Raceway.
This event kick-starts the road to the Warrnambool Classic – starting on Wednesday at Avalon for the Presidents Cup, followed by the Kings Challenge at Mount Gambier on Thursday before heading to Warrnambool for Friday, Saturday and Sunday racing.
So leaving on Monday we travelled south for a huge week of racing. We stayed overnight in the truck south of Sydney, then travelled into Melbourne, arriving at Avalon the afternoon of the 18th.
There were hot laps (which was good for me as I have never been to Avalon Raceway before) so I got a chance to have a look at the track before qualifying.
Qualifying was alright but I missed the invert. The invert was 6th which meant I had to start from 8th in my heat race.
Heat 1 I managed to move forward 2 spots (which gave me good points) but due to the track conditions we only had 1 round of heats then into the features.
With my results I managed to get into the B-Main, starting out of 10th place. I had a great start moving forward into 8th but on the exit of turn 4 my motor made a weird noise.
I got off it straight away and grabbed neutral, rolling around the top I waited for a gap and rolled into the infield. Looks like we may have broken a piston in the engine so we will need to swap our engine over!
Results Below:
