About Ryan Newton Racing

Ryan Newton Racing (RNR) started his racing career at the age of 12. After competing in BMX for 2 years he decided to try Go Karts, which he found himself quickly being very competitive in.

Ryan Newton's Go Karting Career Begins

Ryan started in cadet 12 in a Tony kart with a mini rock engine, racing in that category for about 3 months before moving up a class into KA4.

Ryan then moved into a JC Go Kart with a K100 engine provided by Craig from CRX Racing Engines. Racing mainly at Gympie and Ipswich achieving multiple wins.

During Ryan's first full year of racing in KA4 he entered the Australian titles and ended up coming 9th overall.

For all 5 events, he would leave school and travel to the tracks with his family to compete over the Friday, Saturday and Sunday and then head home and back to school.

So arriving on the Thursday, first day on the track on the Friday to learn the track then competing from early Saturday morning through to Sunday before travelling back home.

Ryan Newton's Go Karting Continues

Ryan competed in Go Karts for 3 years in total and had some great wins such as the KA4 Junior State Title round in Mackay.

The following year he won the final in the KA4 Junior State Title at Gladstone and Bundaburg, however after being taken out in the race before the final he lost the overall title on points.

Ryan also attended a race meet in Bundaberg KA3 Junior Class.

He was on a family holiday at the time and flew in on the Friday. Ryan jumped into the car early Saturday morning just in time for qualifying and qualified 2nd!

He lost a wheel in the preliminary final so had to watch that race but then went on and achieved 2nd place in the final race.

From Karting to Formula 500

After 3 years in Go Karts it was time to move on. Ryan is always looking at competing at the highest level he can and pushes himself into the different categories to better his skills.

He moved onto Speedway and due to only being 15 at the time he had to start in Junior Formula 500. Straight away he was very competitive once again, pushing the already fast guys and beating them once in a while.

At the age of 16 he was allowed to move up to Senior Formula 500, his second race meet in Seniors was the State Titles in Ayr.

With his Dad as mechanic, along with his Mum and sister, they headed to Ayr to gain further experience and sharpen his skill set.

Coming 3rd in the feature in Ayr was a pleasant surprise considering this was his second ever race in Seniors!

Ryan continued on that year racing at Brisbane Archerfield and Toowoomba. Due to the Covid 19 pandemic further travel was not possible, but he had some great races against well qualified competition over the course of the year.

His last race of the year was a State round at Archerfield but unfortunately a broken shock meant he was off the pace.

Ryan spun out on the very first lap at the second corner meaning he had to restart from the rear, however in "damage control" mode he drove all the way back up the field.

Whilst Ryan is a full time Plumbing Apprentice his focus and goal in life is to become a full time race car driver in Australia or overseas.

He is a second year plumbing apprentice and you could say he is currently working 2 jobs, one as an apprentice plumber and the other as a young up coming race car driver striving for perfection on each and every lap. He is always lending a hand to work on the car, whether it be changing a tyre, putting fuel in, swapping an engine, cleaning the car from top to bottom or loading and unloading the truck!

He is always there with the crew lending a hand and getting dirty, learning as much as he can at all times both on and off the race track.
