We raced at Archerfield Speedway on Saturday 19th November 2022 for Round 2 of the East Coast Logistics Sprintcar Series. There was a large crowd there which was terrific to see and John gave us a great track to race on.
The race format was grouped, meaning you qualify and race your group. After qualifying and the 2 heats are done all the points get combined and you are then placed against the full field and then race everyone from then onwards.
We had a good race meeting and learnt a lot (which is always good given there really is no practice for a Sprintcar). We ended up 2nd overall in qualifying and 1st in our group which was a great start. We moved forward in both our heats and ended up top on points after the 2 heats and qualifying.
For the dash Ryan got to pick one of 3 envelopes which had 1st,4th & 6th in them. He got the envelope with 4th in it which meant he goes back from 1st place and starts from 4th in the dash. He made his way up to 3rd in the dash, so started the feature from 3rd place.
Ryan managed a great start and was in 3rd for the first 12 laps but the car was too tight and it got worse as the race went on. He finished the feature in 5th position.
Not quite the result we were after, especially after doing so well throughout the night, but that’s racing and we will move onto the next race in Sydney next week.
