We raced at Archerfield Speedway for Round 10 of the East Coast Logistics Sprintcar Track Championship Series on Saturday 19th February.

As we were the first group out and the track was still quite wet time trials were tough. However, on the last lap I managed to get 1 good lap in, which gave me quick time for the group I was in. I just wasn’t high enough on the track until I hit the right spot on that last lap. After everyone had finished time trials I was 7th quickest overall, which was really good considering the track conditions.

Heat one I started from 5th position, managing to get forward a couple of spots straight away before there was a yellow flag and we had to form up single file for a restart. I ran around the top and moved from 3rd to 2nd place, then managed to catch 1st place a lap later. Going into turn 3 he left the inside slightly open, just enough for me to get in there and come out of turn 4 in 1st place. I then managed to hold onto 1st place for the remainder of the heat.

Heat 2 saw me start out of 5th again. I managed to move forward 1 place but then lost it on the next lap. Settling the car and myself down I gained 4th place back a lap later, then I was in 4th for a couple of laps and ran around the top to get into 3rd place. I went for an inside overtake but missed my marks and spun the wheels on the exit, losing a heap of ground which I couldn’t get back in time and finished in 3rd for heat 2.

Dash saw me the 2nd highest point scorer out of everyone which I was very happy about. This time the dash was Bronze, Silver, Gold arrangement meaning 8th,7th,6th & 5th go out together to spread out and time trial and the 2 fastest times stay on track. Then 4th & 3rd join them and then the same thing happens again with the 1st and 2nd (being me) joining them. I was fairly disappointed with my dash performance as I didn’t drive the car in the right part of the track and know I could have done a way better job – but it’s all experience and next time I will. I lost 2 spots and came 4th quickest so I started the feature from 4th.

Starting the feature race from 4th position I got a fast enough start but after only half a lap the yellow lights came on and there was about 6 or so cars involved in an accident on the exit of turn 2. So the board got reset to 30 laps and we all started again. This time it was all good and we were back racing – on lap 2 I managed to get a great exit out of turn 2 on the top, getting myself into 3rd place. I held 3rd place for 18 odd laps, switching between the top and bottom of the track. I made a few errors here and there but all in all was driving well until about lap 18 when I was overtaken by another car on the bottom. I was unable to regain 3rd position, in spite of throwing everything at it, and had to settle for 4th position yet again!!!!
