Hoping everyone had a very Merry Christmas! Round Seven of the East Coast Logistics Sprintcar Track Championship Series was at Archerfield Speedway on Boxing Day, Sunday 26th December.
Boxing Day is traditionally one of the biggest days on the annual speedway calendar. The weather turned out well and it was a massive night of motorsport featuring 30+ Sprintcars with the added entertainment of Monster Trucks and Fireworks.
This race meet was really great for me timing in 4th overall. In the heat races I was just concentrating on clean laps and points racing which worked for me as I finished up 5th overall on points, putting me in the dash (top 8 points scorers race for starting positions).
I started 5th and finished 5th in the dash – it was hard to overtake so it was easier to settle in and save it for the feature.
The feature saw me start out of 5th and I was able to run with the front guys. Being a 35 lap feature I was just getting into a groove and concentrating on hitting my marks and doing clean laps with minimal mistakes.
Michael Gee set the car up great for me and as the race went on I felt better and better. On lap 18 I made a pass to get into 4th position. With about 5 laps to go, coming out of turn 2, I caught up to 3rd and went up the inside of him going up the back straight but couldn’t quite get past him as he shut the door on me. That was my only chance I had with 5 laps to go but finishing 4th was awesome!! I was just SO CLOSE to a podium finish this race but I suppose it wasn’t meant to be.
