Race Meet 2 at Archerfield Speedway – Saturday 16^th October 2021.

Had a great race meeting at Round Two of the East Coast Logistics Sprintcar Track Championship series at Archerfield Speedway.

In time trials I was first out and spun the car in turns 3-4 on my first lap – managing to keep the car running I got my second lap in and luckily it was quick enough to qualify 10^th fastest.

Heat 1: I was out in 4^th and there was only 1 lane around the bottom and I just couldn’t make a pass so settled in for 4^th.

Heat 2: Starting from 3^rd I got a good start and was in 2^nd running the bottom but was not gaining on the car in 1^st place so I went to the top. In turns 1 and 2 I finally found some grip and a faster line where I caught up to 1^st and passed him going into turn 3 to take 1^st place. We had 2 restarts with 2 laps to go due to cars that had spun out but I managed to defend 1^st place and come away with my very first heat win at Archerfield!

I ended up in 6^th place overall after time trials and my heat races so I made it into the Dash. The highest point score had to pick 1 of 3 envelopes which had 1^st, 4^th or 6^th in them and he chose the envelope with 6^th in it which meant we swapped places for the start of the dash. So I was off of pole in the dash.

I didn’t get the best start and came out in 2^nd after turn 2 but the Chief Steward wasn’t happy with the start for some reason so we had to form up again and redo the start. This time I slid across and blocked the other car on the exit of turn 2, which put me in 1^st place. From there I didn’t look back and got the dash win meaning I started the feature from pole position. My first pole position start in a Sprintcar.

I made a good start in the feature and led for a few laps. Making a slight mistake I slid into the wall on the exit of turn 2 and got passed. I just tried to drive clean laps although I wasn’t the fastest out there but was doing well considering the talent that I was racing. I ended up finishing in 6^th position which was a great result for me and I’m happy with that for now.
